Everyday care

• Handle your bag with clean, dry hands. Keep hand cream, perfume and sanitiser away from its surface.
• Avoid overfilling the bag or putting strain on handles, straps and fastenings.
• Protect it from rough surfaces, prolonged direct sunlight and heat. Light-coloured bags can pick up dye from dark clothing, especially when damp.
• Carry pens and cosmetics in separate pouches to protect the lining.

Cleaning your handbag

1. Empty the bag and gently remove loose dust from the interior. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
2. For further cleaning, use only a product approved for your bag’s material and finish. Test a small hidden area and let it dry fully before treating a visible area.
3. Follow the cleaner’s instructions, use a small amount and avoid soaking the leather, seams or lining.
4. Allow the bag to dry naturally before using or storing it. Wipe hardware gently with a dry cloth.

Do not machine wash or immerse your handbag. Avoid bleach, alcohol, household cleaners, abrasive brushes and improvised oil treatments.

Care for different finishes

Smooth and grained leather

Use a compatible leather conditioner only when the bag’s care instructions allow it. Apply sparingly after a hidden-area test; conditioners can change the colour or finish. There is no single conditioning schedule that suits every bag.

Suede and nubuck

Keep these finishes dry. Use a brush designed for suede or nubuck, gently and only on a dry surface. Do not apply smooth-leather creams, oils or waxes. Leave persistent marks to a specialist leather cleaner.

Patent, metallic and coated finishes

Follow the finish-specific instructions. Ordinary leather creams or abrasive polishing can damage coatings. Store light and dark items separately to reduce colour transfer.

PU and faux leather

These materials do not need leather conditioner. Follow their own cleaning instructions; use a lightly damp, soft cloth only if permitted, then wipe dry. Avoid soaking and direct heat.

Spills and moisture

Blot fresh moisture promptly with a clean, absorbent cloth. Do not scrub. If the bag becomes wet, lightly support its shape with plain, unprinted paper and let it air dry away from sunlight, radiators and hairdryers.

For oil, ink, stubborn stains or colour transfer, stop home treatments and use a specialist leather cleaner. Tell them the material and any products already applied.

Storage between wears

• Store the bag clean and completely dry in a cool, ventilated place.
• Use a breathable dust bag or a clean cotton cover, rather than sealed plastic.
• Lightly fill it with unprinted tissue or paper to support its shape without stretching it.
• Rest it on a shelf instead of hanging it by the handles. Arrange straps loosely and keep heavy items off the top.
