Our skin is the most exposed part of our body. On a daily basis, the skin of the hands, face and the neck is the most exposed. The skin on our face is the most sensitive and needs constant care. If the skin on the face is not cared for it develops pigmentation and other skin issues. Even for the young girls, it is important to take care of their skin so that it does not get damaged. In today’s times, the UV rays from the sun and the other pollutants can be a great danger to the skin. However, each skin type is different and each skin type needs different care. There are mainly four skin types oily, dry, and normal and combination which means that the skin has some areas with oily portions and some with dry. The skin type can also change according to the age. Older people are prone to developing sensitivity to the skin than the younger ones.

In this article we will discuss about all the four skin types and will also try to know the kind of skin care that is needed for each of them:

Normal

The normal skin type is not too oily and not too dry. It has no sensitivity issues and no visible pores. People with such skin have lesser imperfections and have radiant complexions.

Combination

A combination skin means that the person has some areas on the face as dry and some as oily. There is a T Zone which is usually oily that includes the forehead, nose and chin. The people with combination skin have pores on the oily areas; blackhead and they can have shiny skin at some places.

Oily Skin

People with oily skin have enlarged pores, blackheads, dull skin and also have the tendency to develop pimples. This is the most difficult skin to handle and people with oily skin are the ones who suffer from the most problems due to excessive oil generation.

Dry Skin

People with dry skin have invisible pores but they do tend to develop dull and rough complexion, fine lines and this leads to the development of red patches on the skin. These red patches can also become itchy and irritated or inflamed. Due to the change in the temperature or the use of drying soaps and cleaners, the skin can even crack. The dryer the skin, the more difficult it is to handle for the person with the skin type.

Tips for Each Type

Now since we know the kind of skin that people usually have, let’s discuss some tips that can be helpful in caring for this skin. Here are some tips that you should apply in your daily life:

For Normal Skin

The normal skin is the least problematic skin and hence the skin care for such people is easy.

In the morning, you need to follow the three step process- Cleansing, toning and moisturizing. Use a gentle cleanser on your face, use a toner after pat drying your face and then use a moisturizer that has an SPF which will protect your skin from the UV rays.

In the night, you have to repeat the same thing but with an addition of a step. Clean your face properly so that the dirt and dust from the day has been cleaned off. Use a toner on your face. The next step will be the application of an antioxidant serum on the face to remove the toxicity. This serum can also remove all the oils from the skin, hence you need to moisturize. Use a nourishing moisturizer to replenish your skin.

For Dry Skin

As already said, the dry skin is a little difficult to handle.

In the morning use a cleansing lotion on your skin so that it does not get dried off. The next step will be using a mild toner to fill the pores on the skin. Apply an antioxidant serum designed for the dry skin and the last step will be applying oily moisturizer that will keep your skin from getting dry and hydrate it. Make sure you do not use matt moisturizer since it will make your skin even dryer and develop patches.

In the evening use a cleansing lotion to remove all the makeup and the dirt from your skin. The next step is to tone your skin just like morning. Now apply the retinol serum with a cotton pad or just dab it in the skin with your palm. The under eye area is always more dryer than the rest of the skin, hence apply an eye cream. Once done, apply a hydrating moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated all night.

For Oily Skin

The oily skin also requires equal amount of care like the dry skin and you need to follow a strict regime to keep your skin healthy.

In the morning, use a cleansing gel that will remove all the accumulated oil from the last night from your skin. Pat dry your face and then use a toner followed by an antioxidant serum. Once your skin has absorbed the serum, apply a zinc oxide sunscreen. Make sure that the sunscreen that you buy is for the oily skin.

In the night use the cleansing gel followed by a toner. This will remove all the dirt and oil from your pores. The next step is to use the AHA/BHA Serum and then the retinol serum. Only apply the next serum when the face the absorbed the previous one. The last step will be hydration of the skin with an oil-free moisturizer so that the oil production does not increase overnight.

For Combination Skin

Since this skin type is a combination of two skin type, you need to find a routine that will suit your skin the best.

In the morning, use a cleansing gel to wash your face, however if your skin is more on the dry side, use the cleansing lotion. Use a toner on the skin just like that for the oily skin and then apply light moisturizer. You don’t necessarily need an oil free moisturizer but use a lightweight one. Lastly use a zinc oxide sunscreen so that your skin does not look oily all day and since it is a natural antibacterial, it will prevent breakouts.

In the night, use a cleansing gel followed by the toner just like the morning. Apply AHA serum just like that of the oily skin and then the retinol serum. Once this is done, apply a lightweight moisturizer overnight.

These are some tips that the ladies with such skins can consider and have a glowing and perfect skin that will keep them looking fresh all the time.
